Dr. Xinyan Deng is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University. She received her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and Automation from Tianjin University and her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr Deng received the NSF Career Award in 2006 and 2011. Dr. Deng's research focuses on the principles of aerial and aquatic locomotion in animals and the development of bio-inspired robotic systems, such as insects and fish.
