Dr. Oliver Wendt is Assistant Professor of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, and Assistant Professor of Special Education at Purdue University. He received his B.S. in Education and Psychology from the University of Cologne, Germany, his M.A. in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, his M.S. in Developmental Disabilities from the University of Cologne, Germany, and his Ph.D. in Special Education from Purdue University. His current research investigates the efficacy of AAC including graphic symbols, Picture Exchange Communication System, and speech-generating devices for individuals on the autism spectrum that present with little or no functional speech. Dr. Wendt is among the 2005 recipients of the Editor Award for the Most Significant Research Article in Augmentative and Alternative Communication.
