Details

Dr. Andrea Liceaga works as associate Professor of Food Science and the Director of the Sensory Evaluation Laboratory at Purdue University. She received her Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia and has over 30 publications on the topic of using proteins found in food for pharmaceutical industries. Dr. Liceaga received the Dr. Jack Long Undergraduate Teaching Award in Food Science in 2014, 2015, and 2018 as well as the Undergraduate Counselor Award in the Food Science Department at Purdue University in 2014 and 2015. Dr. Liceaga’s research interests include alternative/emerging protein sources and the effect of bioactive peptides towards factors associated with chronic disease (e.g., hypertension, type-2 diabetes, obesity, inflammation). She also evaluates protein allergenicity, and sensory evaluation/consumer attitudes towards these alternative proteins.
