Dr. Carl Wassgren is Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Industrial and Physical Pharmacy (by courtesy) at Purdue University. He earned a B.S. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an M.S. and Ph.D. from the California Institute of Technology. Dr. Wassgren was the recipient of the 2017 Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award in Memory of Charles B. Murphy. Dr. Wassgren has been the recipient of the NSF CAREER Award, the Purdue University Teaching for Tomorrow Award, the Spira Award for Outstanding Contributions to the School of Mechanical Engineering and its Students, and the College of Engineering Team Excellence Award. Dr. Wassgren's research interests include fluid mechanics and propulsion, bioengineering, and solid mechanics.
