Details

Dr. Yong P. Chen is a Professor of Physics and Astronomy and Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University. Dr. Chen received his B.S. in Mathematics from Xi'an Jiaotong University, his M.S. in Mathematics from MIT, and his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Princeton. He has received numerous awards, including the IBM Faculty Award, NSF CAREER Award, and the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) Young Investigator Award to name a few. In 2016, he was selected as a fellow of the American Physical Society. Dr. Chen's research covers quantum physics to manipulate electrons, atoms, spins, and photons in various materials and artificial systems, with the aim to uncover novel quantum phenomena and new states of matter and to explore applications in quantum devices and nanotechnology.
