Dr. Hugh Hillhouse was previously an Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering at Purdue University. Currently, Dr. Hillhouse is the Rehnberg Endowed Chair Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Washington. Dr. Hillhouse earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Clemson University, an M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Washington, and an M.S. in Physics and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering both from the University of Massachusetts. In 2008, he received Purdue's Faculty Awards of Excellence. He also received the Faculty Early Career Development award from the National Science Foundation. His research lies at the nexus of nanomaterials and energy conversion. Within the realm of molecular and nanoscale science many new molecules, nanocrystals, electronic materials, and device architectures can be envisioned that may be able to address our current energy harvesting, utilization, and storage challenges.
