Dr. J. Stuart Bolton is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University. Dr. Bolton received his B.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto and his M.Sc. and Ph.D. from the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research, University of Southampton. He is a fellow of both the Acoustical Society of America and the Institute of Noise Control Engineering. He received both the Institute of Noise Control Engineering Outstanding Educator Award and its highest honor, the Distinguished Noise Control Engineer Award. His research interests include noise and vibration control, materials for noise control and optimal treatment design, noise barrier design, structure-borne noise control, sound field visualization for noise source identification, and compressor, fan, and other components modeling and noise control.
