Dr. Michael Scharf is a Professor and O. W. Rollins/Orkin Endowed Chair in Urban Entomology at Purdue University. He earned a B.S. in Entomology, M.S. in Urban Entomology, and Ph.D. in Insect Toxicology from Purdue. Dr. Scharf's research interests have centered on insect enzymology, but most recently, his research has heavily involved genomics and transcriptomics. His lab's research focus is on "reverse genetics" in the areas of enzyme-based digestion, detoxification, and endocrine function.
