Details

Dr. Vladimir Shalaev is the Bob and Anne Burnett Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Professor of Biomedical Engineering, Professor of Physics (by courtesy), and the Scientific Director of Nanophotonics at Purdue University. Dr. Shalaev received an M.S. in Physics and a Ph.D. in Physics and Mathematics from Krasnoyarsk State University, Russia. In 2015, Dr. Shalaev received the IEEE Photonics Society William Streifer Scientific Achievement Award and the Rolf Landauer medal of the ETOPIM (Electrical, Transport and Optical Properties of Inhomogeneous Media) International Association. In 2014, he was elected to the Purdue Innovator Hall of Fame. Dr. Shalaev is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the American Physical Society, the Optical Society of America, the International Society for Optical Engineering, and the Materials Research Society. His research interests include optical properties of nanostructured materials, nonlinear optics and spectroscopy, mesoscopic physics, quantum electronics, and optoelectronics.
