Dr. Cindy Nakatsu is a Professor of Agronomy at Purdue University. She earned her B.S. and M.S. at the University of Toronto and Ph.D. at Carleton University. Dr. Nakatsu's area of expertise is microbial ecology. Her research interests include the impact of anthropogenic factors on microbial community structure, biochemical and genetic basis of metal (Cr and Pb) resistance by bacteria, environmental factors influencing gene transfer, and microbial ecology of wastewater treatment. Her work has been recognized with several awards including Purdue University Faculty Research Scholar and the AIST Foreign Researcher Invitation Award.
