Tesmer, John


Dr. John Tesmer the Walther Distinguished Professor of Cancer Structural Biology in the Department of Biological Sciences and has a Courtesy Appointment in Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology at Purdue University. Dr. Tesmer earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry and English from Rice University and Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from Purdue University. Dr. Tesmer has received several awards and honors including the John J. Abel Award from the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics in 2009, American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Young Investigator Award in 2010 and was elected an American Association for the Advancement of Science Fellow in 2013. His research interests include study of the structure, function, and chemical biological targeting of eukaryotic signaling proteins of cholesterol metabolizing enzymes, G protein-coupled receptors responsible for sensation of sight and smell as well as regulation of blood pressure and heart rate, and control of cell growth and migration.
