Dr. David Spencer is an Associate Professor within the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Purdue University. He earned a B.S. and M.S. from Purdue University and a Ph.D from Georgia Tech. He is an Associate Fellow in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. In 2009, Dr. Spencer was awarded the NASA Exceptional Achievement Medal, which recognizes a government employee for a significant specific achievement or substantial improvement in operations, efficiency, service, financial savings, science, or technology which contributes to the mission of NASA. His research focuses on mission design, spacecraft relative motion, aeroassist technologies, mission operations, and small satellite applications.
