Dr. Mark S. Cushman is a Distinguished Professor of Medicinal Chemistry at Purdue University. He received his Pharm. D. and Ph.D. from the University of California Medical Center and performed his Postdoctoral work at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Cushman's work has been recognized with numerous awards. Most recently (2012), he was awarded the distinction of Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Chaney Scholar Award for Exceptional Research, Purdue, and was appointed Associate Editor of the Journal of Medicinal Chemistry. Dr. Cushman's research focuses on the design and synthesis of a variety of molecules that interact with specific enzymes and membrane-bound receptors including the design, synthesis, and testing of potential anti-AIDS agents, anticancer agents, and antibiotics.
