Details

Dr. Paul Wenthold is an Associate Professor of Physical Organic Chemistry and Mass Spectrometry at Purdue University. Dr. Wenthold earned his B.S. from the University of Northern Iowa and his Ph.D. from Purdue. Dr. Wenthold's research group investigates the reactivity, energetics, and structures of ions and neutral reactive intermediates using mass spectrometry. His research group uses mass spectrometry and ion spectroscopy to investigate the mechanisms of chemical reaction in the gas phase. More specifically, identifying and characterizing the intermediates accessed during the course of a reaction. His research uses mass spectrometry, gas phase chemistry, and photoelectron spectroscopy to determine the thermochemical and structural properties of negative ions used as a means to access the intermediates.
