Dr. Stanton Gelvin is the Edwin Umbarger Distinguished Professor of Biology at Purdue University. Dr. Gelvin earned his Ph.D. from the University of California, San Diego. He was elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in 2010 and a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology in 2006. Dr. Gelvin's research focuses on plant molecular biology, primarily, the mechanism of the transfer to and expression of the Agrobacterium tumefaciens Ti plasmid in plant cells.
