Dr. Xiulin Ruan is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University. Dr. Ruan received his B.S. and M.S. in Engineering Thermophysics from Tsinghua University and his M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan. In 2012, he received the prestigious NSF CAREER Award and in 2010 and 2011, he was an Air Force Summer Faculty Fellow at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base at Dayton, Ohio. He is an American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Fellow. He is an Editorial Board Member for Scientific Reports, a journal published by the Nature Publishing Group. He is an Associate Editor for ASME Journal of Heat Transfer. Dr. Ruan's research interests include nanoscale heat transfer and energy conversion, multiscale multiphysics simulations of nanomaterials for energy applications, photovoltaic nanomaterials, thermoelectric nanomaterials, and nanoscale thermal radiations and nanophotonics.
