Researchers at Purdue University have developed novel catalysts and operating conditions for gas phase deoxygenation of bio-oils. These active and stable catalysts achieved approximately 90 percent bio-oil conversion and approximately 80 percent selectivity to deoxygenated species over a 24 hour test in a fixed bed reactor. Furthermore, during these 24 hour tests, no significant sign of coking was observed.
