Purdue University researchers have developed a method of keeping the wires on a mountain bike that typically hang down on the outside the bikes steering column have Mountain bike braking wires are commonly placed on the outside of the bike and hang down outside the steering column. These wires are prone to breaking in the case of a crash caused by the rotation of the handlebars.
