NSWC Crane has patented and developed a deployable radiofrequency (RF) decoy system. The novelty of this invention comes from the two layer open cell blanket structure with fractal reflective or resonating structures. These fractal reflective structures are adapted to produce an emitted reflective or resonance signal that matches a target electromagnetic signal profile or a plurality of electromagnetic signal characteristics.
The invention was originally designed to be deployed from a ship or boat by means of a tow yoke coupled to the blanket and floatation devices.
