The U.S. Navy seeks a partner for licensing and collaboration on a small, unobtrusive probe that is cost-efficient and capable of being placed by transmitters inside or outside of the lab to remotely and continuously measure the radio frequency (RF) output power of commercial and custom transmitters regardless of antenna type or orientation. Current methods of monitoring transmitter output powers over the air can be costly and cumbersome when it comes to testing radio frequency (RF) transmitters in the field. Existing designs are costly, and designed for laboratory use only. NSWC Crane has developed and patented a probe that remotely and continuously measures the radio frequency output power of commercial and custom transmitters regardless of antenna type or orientation. The invention is comprised of an electromagnetic transmitter and a receiver system with an antenna where the transmitter and receiver are adapted to produce a transmitted RF signal for antenna. |
