Researchers at Purdue University have developed a technology that utilizes aircraft transponder data to determine when an aircraft operation has occurred. This technology is capable of acquiring more data than conventional methods. Combined with a specialized estimation algorithm, the result is valuable, accurate operational metrics and a much greater range of operational statistics for management personnel. This technology includes a computer, radio transponder, and Wi-Fi communications link to transmit information to estimation software. Advantages: -1090 MHz signals are received passively -Improved operations measurement accuracy Potential Applications: -Airports -Radio transponders -Air traffic control tools |
