Professors continually look for tools to enhance their teaching and the learning process for their students. Currently, there is a lack of interactive and intuitive learning applications for students within geology and pedology. Researchers at Purdue University have developed an application that allows users to view highly detailed maps of soil properties on a tablet device. This application is designed primarily to support teaching and learning at the university level by allowing users to zoom in and see details or quickly zoom out to see map overviews. By switching between the various maps and zoom levels, users gain a better understanding of the complex interactions between soil properties and the landscapes where they occur. This application could also be used for other applications. Advantages: -Easy to use -Intuitive -Multiple applications Potential Applications: -Education -Textbook supplement |
