Laser range finders may be used in various applications to determine the distance to an object. Testing laser systems is needed for manufacturers, maintenance workshops, and final users for a set of different and important reasons. Sometimes, systems need to be disassembled for repairing and reassembled to the overall system for testing.

Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division (NSWC Crane), has developed and patented a universal laser range evaluation and verification system that facilitates testing laser range finder devices. This system, which includes a frame, a holder, an eyepiece, and an optical system supported by the frame, provides a test station for testing a laser range finder's ability to determine a distance to a range target.

-Provides for a significant cost savings over current test systems and improves the ability to perform varied tests on laser range finders
-Facilitates laser testing and repairs

-Simulates an outdoor laser test range in a relatively small area
