Seals that are used in extreme environments, such as pressure or temperature extremes, commonly fail. There is a need for pressure seal technology for use at high altitudes. Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, has patented, developed, and fielded a pressure seal that offers better sealing capabilities when in a high-pressure to low-pressure environment. The technology reduces high pressure loss while providing a lower friction interface in non-high pressure environments. Unique features of this system include the seal's ability to function in a wide range of termperatures, and the elimination of the leak path. Potential Applications: - Flares and Pyrotechnics - Engines - Chemistry and Chemical Applications - Fluid Flow - Biomedical Applications |
