A safe room is typically installed within a residence or building to provide a safe and protective hiding place for the inhabitants in the event of a break-in or other threat. The invention provides a means of rapidly constructing and installing an effective ballistic-proof safe room that can be easily disassembled and removed without permanent damage or modification to existing building structures. When faced with unique protection requirements on foreign diplomats, engineers at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Crane, Indiana developed and patented an innovative modular safe room. The invention provides a means of rapidly constructing and installing an effective ballistic-proof safe room that can be easily disassembled and removed without permanent damage or modification to existing building structures. NSWC coordinated an effort which successfully designed, built, and deployed 15 such units. The resulting product has proved as an effective measure against ballistic protection. There is a lack of products on the market today that allow for a rapid deployable non-permanent ballistic protective safe room.
