Most companies no longer use printed directories, opting for digital versions. A solution is needed to convert data in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to a format that displays on mobile devices. Researchers at Purdue University have developed a software tool that converts Microsoft Excel file data into a format that displays on mobile devices. This software tool simplifies the process of making mobile directories for organizations. An Excel file containing typical directory information, i.e., name, address, telephone number, and email address, is input into the tool, which then parses the data into a format that displays on mobile devices. With this software, the time it takes to create a directory is significantly reduced, saving both time and money on development costs. Developing future versions of a directory is automated. Advantages: -Automatic format for display on mobile devices -Reduces development time, saving time and money -Development of future versions is automated Potential Applications: -Digital directories |
